International Education Week at Boston College

International Education Week at Boston College starts today!

 

International Education Week (IEW) emphasizes the importance of increasing knowledge and awareness of the world's many cultures, people, and languages. Events will be held throughout the month of November. The Career Center is kicking us off with Careers in International Affairs Week. 

The original purpose of IEW was to highlight and bring attention to all the international engagement occurring at 热点爆料入口 and put them in one place so that people saw the breadth, depth, and scope of everything international that 热点爆料入口 was doing to internationalize the campus.

The Office of Global Engagement and the Office of International Students and Scholars are pleased to announce the next lecture for our Global Scholars Lecture Series. This will be a hybrid event.

 

Dr. Sonia Isidori will be giving a lecture entitled Longing for the Indies: The Jesuits and their missionary vocation . Sonia Isidori holds a PhD in International Studies at the University of Naples "L'Orientale". She is interested in Global History of the early modern period with a particular focus on the History of the Society of Jesus and its missionary endeavor. She is a member of the editorial board of the Digital Indipetae Database. She is currently a research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies.

SACRU Graduate Student Seminar

A Sustainable Future: Research Delivering Impact for the 21st Century

Graduate students are invited to participate in the inaugural SACRU Research Student Seminar on the theme ‘ A sustainable future: research delivering impact for the 21st century .’ 5-minute presentations will connect students' research with one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the goals of  Laudato si’ , Pope Francis’ encyclical on caring for our common home.

International Conference on Educational Frontiers 

This conference is hosted by the Boston College Lynch School and our partner, Ateneo de Manilla Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design.

 

The theme is "global education experiment: lessons that inspire the future." Events will run from November 19-20, 2021.

In this conference, education professionals come together to confront issues and questions about education policies and practices in pandemic and post-pandemic times. View the link below for details.

The Racial Muslim: When Racism Quashes Religious Freedom

"Why does a country with religious liberty enmeshed in its legal and social structures produce such overt prejudice and discrimination against Muslims? Sahar Aziz’s groundbreaking book demonstrates how race and religion intersect to create what she calls the Racial Muslim. Comparing discrimination against immigrant Muslims with the prejudicial treatment of Jews, Catholics, Mormons, and African American Muslims during the twentieth century, Aziz explores the gap between America’s aspiration for and fulfillment of religious freedom." This will be a hybrid event.

Simphiwe Nzube Artist Talk

Simphiwe Ndzube is a painter and installation artist from South Africa. His artwork tells a story of power and conflict, of apartheid and its afterlives. Focusing on the people affected by abuses of power, he chronicles oppressed peoples' search for freedom, love, and meaning in an unequal world. During this event, he will be discussing some of his recent projects and the decisions that guide his artistry.
